About Ceaux

As a producer of high-quality, cruelty-free, and carefully tested cosmetics, Bayou Girl Cosmetics has made it our mission to provide our customers with products that are safe, and affordable and set a new standard for cosmetic excellence.

Necessity and inspiration spawned the creation of Bayou Girl Cosmetics and living up to the challenge of inclusive beauty drove founder Courtney Salsberry to create her Louisiana-inspired Homage Palette that offers an iconic tribute to cultural people, places, and things Louisiana has been known for. Every year thousands travel from near and far to join in one of the world's largest festivals, Mardi Gras. The celebrations are known for their fun, lively and extravagant parades of cultural diversity, and being from Louisiana Courtney wanted to give girls and women around the country a product that could be the “Mardi Gras” of their makeup vanity. Courtney wanted to offer limitless creative products to build a brand that could stand out amongst the beauty giants. She wanted to build a beauty brand that celebrated color, the beautiful colors of the iconic representations of her home state, the rich colors of the eyeshadow palettes, and the diverse shades of Lip glosses. “Today’s society is very cultural. Our makeup should reflect the richness of our culture, our beauty, and our history.”

Understanding that the beauty industry is an extremely saturated market, Courtney understood there was a market of consumers waiting to be served. In 2020, Unsure of how to reach those consumers against the marketing budgets of the top beauty companies, she knew she had the vision, but she had no capital. No trust fund from which to borrow. No rich uncle to leave her millions. No angel investors. But she had something more important, she had passion, fire, and a deep belief that waiting wasn’t an option. She had to start somewhere and dive off the deep end. With just $4,000 and a dream, she launched her beauty company in a three-bedroom home, with three kids. Instead of settling or feeling defeated, she saw it as an opportunity.

The Homage Palette, inspired by the beauty of Louisiana and featuring the city of Baton Rouge within the package, was the first makeup product to launch. The palette was almost a viral sensation overnight and began to attract fanfare from all over the world. Women of all shades were attracted to the rich pigments offered in this eyeshadow palette. One after the other, Courtney launched Bayou Girl Cosmetics, with Louisiana in mind, but suited for people of all colors. The pigments are rich, the shades are varied to match women from light to dark. This brand attracted makeup lovers, everyday makeup wearers, and influencers alike, and Bayou Girl quickly grew to become a beloved Black-owned makeup brand.
